Wilpattu Safari Camp – 1 Night, 2 Guided Safaris

Make room for the wild, even on a short Sri Lanka itinerary. Our one-night stay at Wilpattu Safari Camp combines tented accommodation with two guided half-day safaris: an afternoon drive on arrival and a morning drive before departure.

This is the shortest of our Wilpattu Tented Camping Safaris, designed for travellers who have limited time but want more than a single visit to the park. Exploring at two different times of day gives you another opportunity to discover wildlife, experience changing light and enjoy Wilpattu’s forest and natural water bodies, known as villus.

Wilpattu Safari Camp sits just outside the national park boundary near the park gate. After your afternoon safari, return to camp for dinner and an overnight stay in a safari tent, ready to explore again the following morning.

Day 1 : Arrive at camp and take an afternoon safari

Check in at Wilpattu Safari Camp, situated outside the park boundary near the entrance.
Enjoy lunch at camp before setting out.
Afternoon guided game drive in Wilpattu National Park. Explore forest tracks and the edges of the villus with your guide. Look for spotted deer and sambar, while keeping watch for Sri Lankan leopards, sloth bears and elephants. Around the water, birds such as painted storks, Asian openbills and little cormorants may add to the afternoon’s discoveries.
Dinner and overnight stay at Wilpattu Safari Camp.

Wilpattu 1 Night and 2 Days Safari Camping

Day 02: Morning wildlife drive and departure

Breakfast at camp.
Morning guided game drive in Wilpattu National Park. Return to the park for a second opportunity to observe its wildlife. Watch for Sri Lanka junglefowl along the tracks and purple herons or egrets near the water. Your guide will also look for larger mammals, including deer, elephants and the elusive leopard, responding to the activity and conditions encountered along the route.
Return to camp and check out after your safari.

Every Wilpattu Safari Camp package includes tented accommodation, all meals from lunch on your arrival day through to breakfast on your departure day, tea and coffee, local spirits, beer and wine.
