Day 1

The Pekoe Trail trekking tour commences from Haputale, leading you through a protected rainforest to a stunning mountain cliff where you can witness trains traversing the colonial-era railway line, originally constructed by the British for transporting tea to Colombo port.

During the 3 days trekking tour in Sri Lanka along the Pekoe Trail, covering stages 11, 12, and the Bambarakanda Waterfall, you'll walk alongside the railway line amidst misty tea estates, offering captivating views of the valley below. Encounter two railway tunnels before reaching a hill country railway station, then venture back into a forest, culminating at a scenic cliff where a picnic meal awaits.

Proceeding through another scenic forest, you'll eventually reach a remote tea estate and village, where you can interact with villagers, many of whom were originally brought from India by the British to work in the tea estates. Witness tea plucking and the weighing of harvested tea leaves, and consider offering gifts like pens, candies, or chocolates as tokens of appreciation.

Descending further, you'll arrive at another remote tea estate, where you'll spend the night at a simple lodge during this Pekoe Trail trekking tour. Don't anticipate commercial luxuries; instead, expect basic comforts in a clean environment with breathtaking views. Upon arrival, enjoy a warm cup of tea and a welcoming smile. The lodge staff, including the cook, caretaker, and trekking guide, will ensure your stay is pleasant, going the extra mile to make you feel at home. Day 2

Wake up in the morning around 6 am to relish the breathtaking views of mist-covered mountains from the garden of the guest house, accompanied by a comforting cup of Ceylon Tea.

Following breakfast, we embark on day two of Pekoe Trail trekking tour, venturing through tea estates and forested paths that offer unparalleled vistas of the hill country, rarely seen by typical travelers to Sri Lanka.

Emerging from the forest, we transfer to the entrance gate of Horton Plains National Park via vehicle, marking the beginning of another trek lasting approximately four hours within the park. Here, we marvel at World's End, Baker's Falls, and the chimney pools, the origin of many of Sri Lanka's major rivers. During this Pekoe Trail trekking tour, a picnic meal is provided. Upon returning to the park entrance, we transfer via vehicle to commence a brief trek to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3

Today marks the conclusion of our 3 days Pekoe Trail trekking adventure tour. Begin the day with a warm cup of tea followed by a hearty breakfast prepared by our enthusiastic cook at the lodge. Bid farewell to our hospitable hosts as we head towards the mountain cliff to soak in the panoramic views of the valley below. En route, we pass through a remote tea estate where interactions with villagers and their children await. Consider purchasing cookies from the village boutique to delight the local children.

Navigate through the narrow passages of the 'Devil's Staircase,' characterized by three hairpin bends, before reaching the captivating scenery of the tea estate beyond. Descend further to reach 'Lanka Falls,' where you can indulge in a refreshing swim and a cold bath in the natural pool, accompanied by a picnic meal.

Continue your trekking tour of Pekoe Trail to witness Sri Lanka's highest waterfall, 'Bambarakanda,' where an optional visit to its starting point is available. Descend further while enjoying the breathtaking view of the waterfall, with opportunities for a swim at its base if desired.

As the Pekoe Trail trekking tour draws to a close, meet your driver at the base of Bambarakanda waterfall to continue your journey across Sri Lanka. If your driver is unbale to come to the base of Bambarakanda waterfall, you have the option of walking further 30 to 40 minutes to mee the driver at Kalupahana junction, the closest main town to Bambarakanda waterfall. Or our guide can arrange you a Tuk Tuk ride to Kalupahana junction for a nominal fee. 

If you opt for a day of relaxation post-trekking, we recommend Haputale, Bandarawela or Ella towns, accessible within a 1-hour drive from Kalupahana junction.
